BOSTON — Jackie Bradley Jr. is out of the Red Sox lineup as Boston begins a three-game series against the Astros on Friday night.

Mookie Betts is in center and J.D. Martinez is in right with Eduardo Nunez serving as the designated hitter against righty Gerrit Cole. Bradley Jr. has hit .153/.257/.186 with seven RBIs this year and is usually in the lineup against right-handed starters.

With Sandy Leon out on paternity leave, Christian Vazquez will catch Rick Porcello. Leon has caught each of Porcello’s start since rejoining the Sox on April 16.

Friday’s game will be the first matchup between the Red Sox and Astros since Game 5 of the ALCS, when the Sox beat Houston, 4-1, to advance to the World Series.
